Was a stray cat we found
We thought: "Who knows,
maybe bodhisattvas come back as cats sometimes"

We fed him
gave him a place to sleep
and watched for signs

But all he ever did was fuck and fight his way through the night
We called it crazy wisdom
and did the same

Trebor Healey is the author of the 2004 Ferro-Grumley and Violet Quill award-winning novel Through It Came Bright Colors.
