The Hot Month

Taylor Mac Bowyer

Scene III

Scene III

Lights up on JOSEPH, sitting on a chair/toilet with his pants around his ankles reading a magazine. MAG knocks from offstage.

MAG
Anyone in there? Hello.

JOSEPH
Yeah.

MAG
Hurry up. You've been in there for ten minutes.

JOSEPH
I'm going to the... what, are you timing me?

MAG
It's an emergency.

JOSEPH
What am I supposed to do, stop?

MAG
Just open up.

JOSEPH
You're gonna have to wait.

MAG
Get the fuck out. It's an emergency.

JOSEPH
Not my problem.

MAG
I'm gonna break this fucking door down and kick your ass out.

JOSEPH
Ha.

The sound of a door being broken is heard. MAG enters.

JOSEPH
HEY!

MAG
My water broke.
